Building
School food
What does this country feed its kids?
- Now
- A scored recipe exists: a chia, oat, hemp and plant yogurt bowl measured on 11/10/2026 against a protein and calorie target, with every ingredient sourced to USDA or the label. No school has been approached.
- After
- One pilot school serves a chia overnight oats cup for four weeks and the plate waste, participation and taste vote are published. Then the campaign.
Why it matters
Healthier defaults for children.
What it takes
- Recipe locked to the school breakfast pattern: a grain, a fruit and a milk alternative in one cup, about 350 kcal, 12 to 15 g protein, 8 g fibre, under 10 g added sugar. Chia is hydrated overnight, never served dry.
- Cost per cup under the breakfast reimbursement rate, which means roughly 0.90 to 1.30 dollars in bulk before labour.
- Allergen pass: soy or oat yogurt, no nuts.
- One pilot school, four weeks, measured: plate waste weighed before and after, participation rate, a one line taste vote.
- The pilot data and the recipe card are the campaign. Nothing publishes before them.
Log
The bowl, scored
I measured my morning bowl against my protein target. The seeds are omega-3 and fibre foods, not protein foods, and I had cut the wrong ingredient.
